Anthony Abbatiello NJPacing Classic
Feelin Friskie, driven by Hall of Famer John Campbell, scored a stakes record 1:49.1 victory in the $500,000 Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Pacing Classic on May 27 at The Meadowlands.
The son of Artiscape is owned by Wayne Whebby and trained by Scott Bell. The race, richest homebred racein the nation, was developed and sponsored by the SBOANJ to showcase New Jersey-bred pacers.

Thomas D’Altrui Miss NJ Pace
Future Destiny, driven by Ron Pierce, won the $175,000 Thomas D’Altrui Miss New Jersey Pace in 1:50.3 at The Meadowlands on May 27. The daughter of Artiscape was trained by George Teague Jr. who co-owns the filly with his sister Brenda, K & R Racing (Kevin and Ronald Fry), retired New York Jets receiver Wayne Chrebet’s Double Down Stables and former heavyweight boxing
champion George Foreman.
The race was developed by the SBOANJ as a companion event to the Classic.

Lou Babic Memorial Pace
Watta Hotshot, with Hall of Fame driver Catello Manzi in the sulky, outpaced his stable mate OlayOlay by a neck to win the $160,000 Lou Babic Memorial Pace for Jersey-sired two-year-olds in 1:56.1 on October 14 at Freehold Raceway. It was a one-two sweep of the race for owner Wayne Whebbyand trainer Scott Bell. The race is named for the late SBOANJ officer and director, who was also afounder of the Sire Stakes Program. Lou Babic Filly Memorial Pace
Spring Break, with Steve Smith driving, scored an upset 1:59.1 victory in the $90,000 Lou Babic Filly Memorial for two-year-old pacing fillies on October 14 at Freehold Raceway. Randy Beekman trained the Dream Away filly for the Winbak Farm. The race was developed and sponsored by the N. J. Sire Stakes to honor the memory of a founder of the program and a long-time SBOANJ officer and direc-tor.

Charles I.Smith Memorial Trot
Enough Talk, driven by Hall of Famer Catello Manzi, won the $115,000 Charles I. Smith Memorial Final for three-year-old New Jersey-sired trotters in 1:57.3 on October 13 at Freehold Raceway.
The Enjoy Lavec-sired trotter was trained by Matt Butcher Jr. for the Crossing Paths Farm. The race was devel-oped and sponsored by the SBOA of New Jersey to honor the memory of a founder of the N. J. Sire Stakes Program who owned and raced trotters.

Helen Smith Memorial Filly Trot
Emantee, with George Brennan, took the lead early and stayed in front to the wire to win the $85,000 Helen Smith Memorial Final for three-year-old New Jersey-sired trotting fillies by eight lengths in1:57.2 at Freehold Raceway on August 18. The daughter of Banker Hall was trained by Trond Smedshammer for co-owners Barry Goldstein, Steven Shapiro and Marc Goldberg. The race wasdeveloped by the SBOANJ as a filly companion event to the Charles I. Smith Trot and named for Mr.Smith’s widow.

Harold R.Dancer Memorial
Strive For Perfect led from start to finish to win the $115,850 Harold R. Dancer Memorial for two-year-old New Jersey-bred trotters in 2:00.1 over a sloppy track at Freehold Raceway on September 15.The son of Muscles Yankee was trained and driven by Ray Remmen for owner John Lichtenberger. The SBOANJ developed and sponsored the race in honor of one of the sport’s top trainer of trotters.

H.R.Dancer Filly Memorial
Purple Haze, a daughter of Muscles Yankee, trotted to a 2:00.1 victory in the $90,650 Harold R.Dancer Filly Memorial at Freehold raceway on September 19. With David Miller driving the filly wonby a neck over Victoria Volo. Purple Haze was trained by Syl King Jr. for owners Alvin Jacobsen andSidney Korn. The filly companion race to the Dancer Trot was developed by the SBOANJ.
