EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- December 27, 2023 -- With so many of the award winners having made their most indelible major stakes marks at The Meadowlands, it makes perfect sense that the announcement of the 12 divisional equine Dan Patch Award winners will be revealed during The Big M’s pregame show on Saturday (Dec. 30).

The live broadcast, which will begin at 5:20 p.m., can be seen on the Racetrack Television Network (rtn.tv) as well as The Meadowlands’ Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The Big M TV talent team of Dave Little and Jessica Otten will preside over the festivities from the Sam McKee Memorial Broadcast Set. Once the Dan Patch winners are disclosed, the show will transition into a preview of the evening’s card, which gets underway at 6:20 p.m.

“We are pleased and proud to have the announcement of the Dan Patch Awards here at The Meadowlands,” said track Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason Settlemoir. “We know that everyone who follows harness racing will be watching this presentation of our pregame show.”

The United States Harness Writers Association, founded in 1947, is an international organization made up of those who cover and report on harness racing. USHWA nominates and votes – along with North American race secretaries for equine awards – for the Dan Patch Awards and all year-end equine and human awards in harness racing.

The Dan Patch Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Fla. Information on room reservations, tickets, souvenir journal ads and sponsorship information regarding the event can be found on USHWA’s website, www.usharnesswriters.com.

That night at the banquet, the winners of Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year will be announced live.
