BIG PICK-6 POOL EXPECTED SATURDAY AT BIG M

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- March 28, 2025 -- After Landia pulled off a 41-1 upset in the 13th race at The Meadowlands Friday night, no one held a winning 20-cent Pick-6 ticket, so fans of the bet that’s offered on races eight through 13 will be shooting for a carryover of $5,029 on Saturday night.

Winner’s odds for the sequence weren’t completely outrageous as the first five legs were taken by horses who went off at 4-1, 12-1, 5-2, 3-1 and 11-1, but heading into the payoff leg, the only horse covered in the Pick-6 was 3-5 favorite Hoofbeats De Vie, who finished a fast-closing second.

Carryovers like these offer some great value for the player. In the event $30,000 of “new money” is wagered Saturday, the pool total – including the carryover, which is not subject to the low 15 percent takeout – would be $30,500, creating a scenario where more money is returned to bettors with winning tickets than what is bet, what is known as a “negative takeout.”

Free past performances for every race of every Meadowlands card are available by going to The Big M’s website, playmeadowlands.com.

‘HUNT’ BAGS FOURTH STRAIGHT: One of the better inexpensive claimers you’ll find anywhere raced in Friday’s seventh race at The Meadowlands, and the scorching-hot I’ll Hunt You Down picked up his fourth straight win racing at the $7,500 claiming level for pacers.

The 5-year-old gelded son of Huntsville-Crazy On You, who is trained by Michael Posner, was away third around the first turn before darting up to grab the lead at the half, then powered clear of his overmatched foes through the stretch on the way to a 4¾-length romp in a lifetime-best equaling 1:52.1. Itzalldowntoluck N was second with Albert A’ Scootin third.

“He left out of there pretty good,” said winning driver Johnathan Ahle. “He can really do it either way, so I wasn’t too worried about where we got away. I moved him to the front after the fast first quarter [of :27] and from then on it was race over.”

I’ll Hunt You Down, who returned $3.20 as the 3-5 favorite, now has nine wins from just 15 lifetime starts. He will seek his fifth victory in a row in his next outing, which would be the longest this year by any horse at the mile oval.

“He’s been ultra consistent and he’s racing in a class he can really excel in,” said Ahle. “It’s all worked out very well.”

A LITTLE MORE: It was a big night for Ahle, who finished atop the driver colony with four victories. … Tom Fanning led the trainers with a pair of jaunts down victory lane. … All-source betting on the 14-race card totaled $2,691,345. … Racing resumes Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
