CHESTERFIELD, NJ -- June 19, 2025 -- Noel Daley sent out five winners and Nik Drennan had three as Magical Acres held its first of two sessions of qualifiers for 2-year-olds Thursday morning. The training center hosted a total of 11 races for the freshmen.

Daley won with pacing colts Callmebigpapi (Papi Rob Hanover-Dancethenightaway) and Signal Caller (Captaintreacherous-Square Dancer), trotting colt Highball Hanover (Bar Hopping-Hall Of A Dream), pacing filly Caviart Amore Mio (Captaintreacherous-Caviart Ally), and trotting filly Carve (Captain Corey-Alpine).

Todd McCarthy drove Callmebigpapi and Andrew McCarthy drove the remaining four Daley winners.

Caviart Amore Mio, whose mom earned nearly $2 million in her career and was a 2019 O’Brien Award winner, was Daley’s fastest performer. The Caviart Farms homebred stopped the clock in 1:59, which was the day’s second-quickest clocking.

Carve had the fastest time among trotters, with a 2:00.2 score. The filly, bred and owned by Diamond Creek Farm, is from the family of 2002 Dan Patch Award winner Pizza Dolce, which includes 2022 Trotter of the Year Bella Bellini and 2023 Dan Patch Award winner Bond.

Signal Caller won in 1:59.4, Callmebigpapi in 2:00.1, and Highball Hanover in 2:01.

Drennan’s wins came with pacing colt Cobain (Perfect Sting-Must Read) and pacing fillies Infallible (Perfect Sting-Industrial Hemp) and Napalm (Perfect Sting-Fiery Beauty). David Miller was in the sulky for all three winners.

Infallible, purchased for $90,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, had the morning’s fastest time, with a 1:57.4 spin around Magical Acres’ five-eighths-mile oval. The filly is from the family of Hall of Fame racehorse/broodmare Delinquent Account and Hall of Fame broodmare Arterra.

Napalm’s family includes Hall of Fame broodmare Precious Beauty. She was purchased for $35,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale. Joseph Davino, Patrick O’Brien, and Brad Shackman share ownership of Napalm, who was timed in 2:00.2. The same trio also owns Infallible, along with Anthony Perretti Farm.

Cobain, purchased for $42,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale, is from the family of 2009 Pacer of the Year Well Said. He is owned by Scott McKenzie, Drennan Stable, and Shackman. He won in 1:59.4.

Rounding out Thursday’s 2-year-old winners were trotting colt Captain Vodka (Captain Corey-Agro Dolce) in 2:02.2 for driver Miller and trainer Nifty Norman, and trotting fillies Islandgirl Hanover (Captain Corey-Island Lily) in 2:04.2 for trainer/driver Trond Smedshammer and Southwind Chaska (Tactical Landing-Southwind Chai) in 2:03 for trainer/driver Jim Oscarsson.

Captain Vodka’s second dam is Bella Dolce, the mom of Bella Bellini. He was purchased for $60,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale and is owned by Melvin Hartman, Philip Steinberg, and Rojan Stables.

The second session of 2-year-old qualifiers at Magical Acres is scheduled for June 26.
