FREEHOLD, NJ -- August 24, 2025 -- As New Jersey sports betting awaits the start of the Meadowlands harness racing fall meet in one week, the Garden State’s other harness track - Freehold Raceway - returns to its live meet in Central Jersey on Friday with an 11-race card.

First post is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

Live racing will be conducted at the nation’s oldest half-mile harness racing track every Friday and Saturday (with the exception of five Thursday cards, Sept. 14 thru Oct. 12) until Dec. 30. Simulcast wagering is also on premises.

Freehold's fall meet is full of stakes races, New Jersey Sire Stakes (NJSS) and Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey (SBOANJ)-sponsored races, starting on the first Thursday race day of the meet.

The first leg of the NJSS - SDF for 3-year-old trotting fillies, the $50,000 SBOANJ-sponsored Garden State Trot for 3-year-old trotting colts, and the Renaissance Eliminations for 2-year-old pacers - will be held on Sept. 14.

If you are visiting the track, Parx Sportsbook New Jersey at Freehold Raceway’s retail location opened on property in September 2020 with teller windows and self-service kiosks for all of your sports wagering needs. You can also use the betParx mobile app.

Last month, the sportsbook generated more than $1.62 million in revenue, a more than 140% increase from July 2022 ($675,089).

The overall New Jersey sports betting handle for July was more than $561.64.

2022 Freehold Meet Winners

The 2022 Freehold meet concluded in January with Jim Marohn Jr. capturing his first driving title with 155 victories. Austin Siegelman, the leading driver in 2021, came in second (144) and Vinny Ginsburg finished third (61).

Paul Fusco won the training title with 56 winners. The meet’s leading trainer in 2021, Izzy Estrada, placed second with 28 wins. Candace Brandstatter and Edwin Quevedo tied for third, each with 27 victories.

Meadowlands Meet Starts Sept. 1

The fall meet The Meadowlands in East Rutherford starts Friday, Sept. 1 with first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.

Hambletonian Day concluded the Big M's winter/spring meet establishing a new handle record in the 10-year history of the new grandstand.

More than $7.8 million was generated on the 16-race program on Aug. 1.
