COLUMBUS, OH -- October 24, 2026 -- Miss Jum Jabber overcame a demanding draw to deliver a dazzling performance in the $664,500 Grade 1 Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Filly Pace on Saturday night (Oct. 24) at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Tasked with post 8 and taking on a world-class group of rivals meant Miss Jum Jabber would have come up with her A-game on Standardbred racing’s biggest stage.
Mission accomplished.
Darlin’s Angel emerged with the early lead, but there was plenty of action as a host of hopefuls tussled for early position strides into the race. A Clean Deal settled into second, as Hope Hill marched on to their outside, while Whoomp sat fourth and Miss Jum Jabber, a $72,000 supplement to the race, found a seat in fifth through a lively opening quarter in :26.1.
Hope Hill, who won her Crown elim last week, then took command, followed by the trio of Whoomp, Darlin’s Angel and Miss Jum Jabber, with Andrew McCarthy in the sulky, was on the march in fourth after a half paced in :55.1.
It was status quo from the top four after three-quarters in 1:22.3, as Whoomp ratcheted up the pressure on Hope Hill and Miss Jum Jabber waiting for her cue.
McCarthy had his bay filly rolling four-wide down the lane and the duo began to methodically pick up ground and pick off their rivals.
An ebullient McCarthy waved his whip strides before the finish line, crossing the wire with the daughter of Bettor’s Wish out of the Captaintreacherous mare Treacherous Reign one length clear in 1:49.4. Whoomp, an Indiana Sires Stakes standout, finished second, with Darlin’s Angel taking third. Hope Hill was fourth.
It was the 14th overall Breeders Crown victory and third in the category for trainer and owner Brett Pelling.
“I figured there would be some options going out of there and luckily, he (McCarthy) pressed on,” said Pelling, of the filly bred by Let It Ride Stables, Alagna Racing, Big Als Stables, and Bottom Line Racing. “I said to him before the race, ‘I don’t mind you leaving, but just don’t come first up.’
“I think having Sangria Summer on his back and then luckily, he did find the right horse to follow. It just worked out perfect.”
Unraced as a 2-year-old, Miss Jum Jabber won the $400,000 Kentucky Championship Series final on Sept. 20 at Lexington in 1:48, drawing off to win by 3-1/2 lengths. She also won the $300,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes on Sept. 6 in 1:49.2 by a neck over rival Say Goodnight.
She arrived at the Crown final off a third in her elimination on Oct. 17.
“I have been super happy with her,” said Pelling. “She never really has a bad day. There were a couple of situations in Lexington (second to Hope Hill in the Grade 2 Garnsey on Oct. 10) – Hope Hill was very, very good. I mean, she definitely improved. The conditions might not have been perfect, coming off a little layoff. I was really trying to prepare for tonight.
“This is great. This is a great feeling.”
With the win, Miss Jum Jabber, a $67,000 purchase at the 2024 Lexington Select Yearling Sale, sports a mark of 14-3-1 from 19 starts, along with over $1 million in purse earnings.
She paid $7.80 for her Breeders Crown score.
