EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- March 11, 2025 -- The Meadowlands Racetrack is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all weekend long with a delectable Irish-themed buffet, curated by the renowned Chef Chris Burnet. Priced at $ 49.95 for Friday and Saturday, this buffet is a culinary journey through all the St. Patrick’s Day staples. From Irish fish chowder to Reuben eggrolls, corned beef brisket to Irish Goulash, and more, it's a feast for the senses. The evening culminates with a sweet treat of homemade chocolate Irish cake and cookies.

The Meadowlands Racetrack will also host a drivers of Irish heritage race on Saturday, March 15th. The winner of the race, which is sponsored by Mary and Peter Grandich of Freehold, New Jersey, will receive a special Irish race blanket and trophy.

“I’m honored to continue the tradition we started at Freehold Raceway by sponsoring the St. Patrick’s race at the Meadowlands,” said Grandich. “My wife, Mary, was born and raised in Ireland, and we were married there, so I have a deep connection to the Irish people and culture. I’m looking forward to this 'green' night at the races.”

Grandich is also sponsoring the appearances of two esteemed Irish sports legends on Saturday night – Gerry Cooney and Ray Lucas.

Cooney, a retired boxer, challenged for the world heavyweight title in 1982 and 1987 and is regarded as one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history.

Lucas played college football for Rutgers and played in the NFL for seven years, including stints with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins.

These Irish legends will meet with fans from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse Lobby, followed by a TV interview and race presentation.
