HIGHTSTOWN, NJ -- December 3, 2024 -- Twin B Joe Fresh, who won the FanDuel Championship for female pacers this past Saturday at The Meadowlands, finished the Grand Circuit season as the No. 1-ranked horse in the year’s final Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll released Tuesday.


A 4-year-old mare trained by Chris Ryder, Twin B Joe Fresh occupied the top spot for the final 21 weeks of the rankings. Ten of her 11 wins this season were on the Grand Circuit, and included eight of the nine most lucrative races for pacing mares (missing only the Blue Chip Matchmaker final, in which she did not compete).

Three-year-old male pacer Nijinsky was the only other horse to be ranked No. 1 this season, holding that position for weeks one through four. Nijinsky, who finished second to Captain Albano in last week’s Progress Pace, ended the year at No. 8.


Jiggy Jog S was No. 2 in the rankings, followed by Maryland, Captain Albano, and Chantilly in the top five.

Abuckabett Hanover returned to the Top 10 for the first time since Week 11, landing at No. 7 following his victory in the FanDuel Open Pace Championship.


The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine year-end awards. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year, and Horse of the Year.


Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
