TWIN B JOE FRESH REMAINS FIRST IN HAMBLETONIAN SOCIETY/BREEDERS CROWN POLL

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ -- August 6, 2024 --  Twin B Joe Fresh, fresh off her victory in the Lady Liberty this past Saturday, continued to occupy the No. 1 spot in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll when the Week 8 rankings were released Tuesday. In addition, two horses returned to the Top 10 and another two were voted into the Top 10 for the first time this season.


A 4-year-old female pacer, Twin B Joe Fresh has won six Grand Circuit races in a row this season. She received 22 of 35 first-place votes and increased her points from 318 in Week 7 to 330 this week.


Hambletonian winner Karl moved up to No. 2 from fourth. The 3-year-old male trotter received 10 first-place votes, an increase of nine from a week ago, and added 62 points. Legendary Hanover, who won the Cane Pace in a stakes- and track-record 1:46.2, the second-fastest mile ever by a 3-year-old, was third in the rankings. Although he did not change his position from last week, he added 25 points.


Completing the top five were John Cashman Memorial winner Jiggy Jog S and Nijinsky, who was idle. Jiggy Jog S, who was sixth last week, won the Cashman in a stakes- and track-record 1:49.2 and joined Manchego and Moni Maker as the only mares to beat the boys in the history of the event.


Its A Love Thing, who was idle, was sixth in the rankings, followed by Hambletonian runner-up Highland Kismet, Dr. John R. Steele Memorial winner M-M’s Dream, Hambletonian Oaks champ Warrawee Michelle, and idle Papi Grad. Highland Kismet appeared previously in the Top 10, most recently in Week 5, while Papi Grad was in the Top 10 in Week 6.


Elista Hanover, Abuckabett Hanover, T C I, and Winner’s Bet dropped from the Top 10.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, which will be released every Tuesday through the remainder of the Grand Circuit season, does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
